Our Ethos

When we created this company, we set out our ambitions for how we wanted to behave and how we wanted to approach work.  We have some beliefs that shape our culture and inform the way we work:

  • We are open, honest and transparent
  • We are technology agnostic but highly skilled in our specific areas of expertise
  • We act as an extension of our client's team
  • We build long-term relationships as production, development and advisory partners
  • We create solutions that balance short-term needs against long-term value and platform development
  • We try to always do the right thing - acting responsibly for our clients and our colleagues

Our History

We are very proud of our record of success and happy clients, and equally of our honesty and quality. Upbeat's team has experience of delivering high quality products with world-class user experience for the likes of Which?, Haynes, JK Rowling's "Pottermore", Robbie Williams and many others of note, and has won awards for its short film production.

Regardless of size, we know how important your digital solutions are to your business and treat all clients with the same passion, quality and exacting standards.

In 2020 Upbeat became part of something bigger. Acquired by Liquorice as one of the first steps in creating a new bespoke marketing and technology business to provide expert led advice and solutions to an extensive client base. Upbeat founders both remain in the business with Peter Robertson taking the role of CTO across the group, and providing the same level of advice and consultancy to Upbeat clients. Keith Greenhalgh moves to a board advisory role for the enlarged business while taking on some group operational responsibilities.

In 2016 as part of our growth strategy, Upbeat bought Hydrant Ltd, a leading Drupal focused digital agency in Carlisle, and in May 2018 rebranded the business as Upbeat North Ltd. With both teams fully integrated, Upbeat operates across offices in London and central Carlisle.

Upbeat Productions was founded in 2010 as a digital agency focused on a healthy culture, transparency, and quality work providing both consultancy and implementation to a wide portfolio of clients in sectors such as publishing and entertainment.

The Upbeat story started in 2004, and by 2007 this was incorporated within Chapter Media, a Consultancy specialising in technology and product development. Increasingly the Consultancy was asked to go beyond advising and strategy into implementation, resulting in the formation of Upbeat Productions.
